Representatives of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA) participated in the meeting of the Joint Committee for Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Germany, contributing to discussions on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and exploring opportunities to attract additional German investment to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Germany ranks among the ten leading foreign investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The discussions focused on the challenges faced by German companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These challenges were also outlined by a representative of the German-Bosnian Chamber of Commerce in Sarajevo (AHK).
A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Joint Declaration on Cooperation between FIPA and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Declaration aims to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation through institutional collaboration, with a particular focus on building institutional capacity and supporting regional economic development.
The Declaration envisages cooperation based on the principles of European Twinning projects, including the exchange of knowledge and experience among civil servants, the improvement of public administration, and the strengthening of institutional capacity through direct cooperation between experts from both countries.
Following the signing of the Declaration, representatives of FIPA and the Ministry held a joint meeting to discuss the next steps in its implementation. One of the concrete activities announced was a forthcoming visit by German experts to FIPA, aimed at facilitating the exchange of professional knowledge, experience, and best practices.
This cooperation marks an important step towards strengthening institutional ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany, enhancing institutional effectiveness, and creating more favourable conditions for attracting new investment and fostering long-term business partnerships.
